What are the types of covering?
In the furniture sector, Lamiecco have products for the industry and for resale. For industry, there are covering for cold flat presses, 3D Thermal Lamination and coverings for continuous covering profiles and continuous plane. For resale, we have covering for use with solvent based adhesives and PVA.
What are the main characteristics?
Flexibility, strength and acceptance of different types of adhesives, from water-based to solvent, PU, PUR and hot melt.
What are the differences between them?
• For covering profiles, the laminate is thinner and may vary from 0.20 to 0.30 mm, and is more flexible, you can make various types of bends with no need of applying heat.
• For covering in hot or cold flat presses the adhesive can be PVA, solvent-based contact or water-based contact
• For plan or continuous covering profiles, hot melt adhesives and PUR are accepted
• The manual process with adhesive contact
• Accepts cold folding, folding 90-180 degrees out and ease in making curved corners.
How is the aplication made?
For 3D Thermal Lamination machines, continuous covering machines, hot and cold flat presses: Manual application with contact adhesive.
Among the different types of laminates, are there differences in applications?
Yes, it can be applied in different processes, but the material can be the same.
What are the types of covering finishes?
Textured, micro-textured, gloss, smooth or wood textured.
What are the differences between the finishes?
The texture applied.
What are the main advantages for the joiner to apply this type of system?
The product shapes according to your need, extremely flexible, fold the cold in living and curved corners.
What benefits does it offer to the furniture?
Impact resistant, not termite proliferates, not derision, waterproof, does not get yellow (for the white covering), and does not fade in color.
What are the difficulties of applying tn curved surfaces?
What the joiner should do to apply this curved corner system?
Just apply the contact adhesive in the case of the solvent-base, waiting to the TAC sound on the glue (put your finger on top of the glue. If it does not glue in your hand, is okay) and make the fold. If you want to eliminate the memory effect, just rub a coated stick with felt and with the help of a heat gun or with the help of a thermal blower, heat it gently.
Which ingredients must be used to make this application?
Manual process: Solvent-based contact adhesive.
How do they influence on the quality of the final product?
The final product will not show a line in a different color because the material will be continuous, and will not appear stretch PET, since is pigmented 100% in a single layer.
Is it necessary to do preventive maintenance of a laminate? How is the maintenance done?
After pasted, there is no need for maintenance, only for cleaning, which can be done with any type of cleaning material. Try to avoid abrasive cleaners as they may damage the PET.
What is the durability of the product?
Once applied, there is a very long service life. The company gives 5 years warranty following what the joiner has to provide to their customer, but if the product stay indoors durability is longer.
Can it be used in furniture for all environments? Ex: Outside, humid and warm areas?
Only for indoor environments, and can be applied in humid and warm environments.
How the laminates should be stored in a carpentry shop?
In a cool and dry place.
Can I use paint thinner or acetone to clean the excess adhesive?
The Thinner and acetone attack the laminate therefore NEVER use these products to clean the parts. Use turpentine, izarrás, solvent or glue remover for cleaning the equipment.
3D Thermal Lamination
How to apply the patch?
Apply with a pistol, always taking care to apply a higher layer on the edges and reliefs since are the weakest points.
To mold the press should I cover the entire machine table with laminate?
Yes, the material must cover every available space to avoid the vacuum output.
How to avoid imperfections in the application?
Sanding the substrate leaving a smooth, clean surface before starting the bonding process.
How long is the time I should use in applying LAMIECCO in color?
On the white, time is 37 sec, and on the colored, time is around 25 seconds of heating. On the black, around 16 seconds of heating, keeping 25 seconds of pressing.
What is the pressing time to activate the PU adhesive?
In the white and colored 25 seconds of pressing and on the black 20 seconds.
How do I finish the pieces?
Cutting the edges flush to the piece with a stylus or trimmer.
How long before putting the press should I apply the patch?
From 15 to 20 minutes, depending on the region climate.
Should I sand the piece after applying the adhesive?
Yes, using a sanding with thin gram mage like 500, being careful to only remove the excess glue and imperfections.
What is the distance I should leave between the parts to be molded?
Twice the thickness of the thickest part.
Do all the parts molded in the same press must be of the same thickness?
No. they can be mold in various thicknesses, even side by side.
If I have to mold one single piece, can I repurpose the surplus laminate?
No. All surplus material must be disposed.
What destination should be given to surplus laminate?
Forward to PET recycling companies because the material is fully recyclable.
What are the main settings of this equipment?
Pressure regulation of the rollers, adjusting the rollers in the shape of the part and adhesive quantity adjustment.
How do I cut to separate the parts that are leaving the covering machine?
The cut can be done by stylus and by disruption.
Is it necessary the use of thermal blower in the process?
No, it is only necessary if you need to activate the glue because the distance of the part to be folded and the number of folds.
How should I apply the solvent-based contact adhesive?
With a smooth trowel.
Why with a smooth trowel?
To avoid the excess of glue and imperfections on the application.
Why not using a notched trowel?
